Experienced and Aggressive Criminal Defense
If you get convicted of a DV crime, the Court will impose sanctions on you. What you get depends greatly on the level of crime and your history, as well as the recommendation of the prosecutor.
The most common class of Domestic Violence cases I see is a 4th Degree Assault. This is a Gross Misdemeanor which mean the maximum penalty is up to 1 year in Jail and a $5,000 fine. There are numerous other crimes that fall under the Domestic Violence label, however.
Anything with a DV tag will also cause you to lose your ability to own or possess firearms. This is true even in cases where no gun was used, threatened, possessed or even contemplated.
If you want to know the likely outcome of your case, call or email me. A lot depends on the facts specific to your case but I can offer guidance on what I think is likely to happen.
